Have Your Convictions Changed?
One of the tlllilgs that we must guard against in this earthly life, is
changing our convictions because of the struggles we face from the
oppression and hardships placed on us by the devil through people.
If we are not careful, when things go bad, bitterness can influence us
to change our attitudes about God and his word. Adversity will make
us better or bitter. It should make us better!
I have known people who have had prolonged sickness, financial
calamity, the death of a dear loved one, or some other tragedy, and
as the result they blame God and abandon the teaching of Christ. We
must always pray that our faith will remain strong and that we will
leave the doctrine intact! (Luke 22:31-32)
Has anything changed your belief about the Bible’s teaching about
the one and only body of Christ? Some no longer believe that the
Lord’s congregation is the only religious community or society that
has the right to exist. The Bible hasn’t changed; it still says, “There is
one body.” (Ephesians 4:4) Stand strong! Be bold! Let the truth ring
out come hail or high water.
Have your convictions changed about the absolutely necessity of
immersion for salvation? Don’t allow the fact that a family member
has died out of Christ warp your perspective of the word of God.
God’s word says “Immersion DOES ALSO now save us.”
(1 Peter 3 :21) Nothing will change that and we must believe and
defend the teaching.
Have your convictions changed about the work of the local
congregation? God’s group was designed by her maker to do
the greatest work on earth! Preach the good news (1 Thessalonians 1:
7-8; Philippians 4: 14-17); provide benevolence for believers (Acts 6:
1-6; 1 Corinthians 16: 1-2), and build up holy people through worship
and teaching. (Acts 20:32; Ephesians 4:15) The only thing that should
change our convictions is the teaching of God’s word. Stand strong.
