Undeniable Religious Truths (No. 2)

July 20, 2014

A large segment of the religious world denies many of the plain truths that are specifically affirmed in the word of God. Especially those truths that are associated with salvation. Why? The denials are largely due to traditional denominational beliefs and teaching.

It is extremely difficult for people to change their beliefs and practices even when scripture teaches they are wrong.

Another of the undeniable religious truths taught in the word of God is the fact that we are saved by grace. In his letter to the brothers and sisters in Ephesus, Paul wrote,

” .. .it is by grace you have been saved… For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith; and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:5,8,9)

Knowledgeable members of Christ’s body never deny salvation by grace. The word grace means favor. Saved by grace means a person is delivered from the guilt of their wrongdoing by God’s offer of forgiveness through the message of good news and the benefits of Christ’s blood. (Romans 3:23-25) The fact that people are saved by the grace of God does not contradict or disallow salvation by faith, immersion, and works. Why not? Because when a person believes, is immersed, and acts or obeys, they are believing in and obeying God. They have not devised their own system of redemption. (Matthew 7:21 ) This is an undeniable religious truth!

The fact that the believers in the age of the apostles assembled on the first day of every week to eat the Lord’s Supper is an undeniable religious truth. Paul told the believers in Corinth to “lay by in store” on the first day of every week. (1 Corinthians 16:2) The purpose of their assembling on the first day of every week was to eat the Lord’s Supper. (1 Corinthians 11:20) While assembled to eat the supper, they were to give according to their income. It is an undeniable religious truth that we should eat the Lord’s Supper on the first day of every week.
