What does “Beatitudes” mean? It comes from the Latin word beatitudo, meaning “blessedness.” In Jesus’ sermon on the mount (Matthew 5:3-12), he tells us that “blessed are” the people who seek after righteousness and they have a joy and peace that will NEVER be found in a life without God!
