Great Bible Doctrines

Great Bible Doctrines

The sacred scriptures contain many great doctrines. They are central to our understanding of the Bible itself, and our part in God’s plan for humanity. Let us explore some of the “Great Bible Doctrines.”

  • Salvation from sin is one of the great doctrines of the holy writings.

Sin is a reality of human existence. All (that is, Jews and Gentiles) have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 6:23) Sin is not inherited from Adam, Eve, or anyone else. Sin results when a person violates the will of God. (l John 3 :4) Unforgiven sin results in spiritual death. (Romans 6:23; James 1:14-15) The final irreversible condition into which the wicked will find themselves is called the second death. It consists of the casting of the wicked into the lake that burns with fire and sulphur. (Revelation 20:14-15; 21:8) The sinner must be forgiven or they will be punished!

The remedy for sin is forgiveness which is is based on God’s love, grace, and mercy. (Ephesians 2:4,5,7,8,9) God forgives sinners when they meet the conditions of forgiveness that are detailed in the New Testament. In general terms, a person must obey the gospel of Christ. (Romans 10:16) Those who do not obey the gospel will be punished. (2 Thessalonians 1:7-9) The alien sinner obeys the gospel when they believe (John 3: 16), has a radical change of mind (Acts 17:30), acknowledges Jesus as Lord and Messiah (Romans 10:10) and is immersed into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)

After a person is immersed into the Lord Jesus, they must be faithful in all aspects of life. They must be holy in body and mind. (1 Peter 1: 14-16) Their words must be pure. (Ephesians 5:25-29) They must worship God in spirit and truth. (John 4:24; Philippians 3:3) They must be courageous and never disown their Lord. (Revelation 21:8)

They must pray constantly. (Colossians 4:2)

Attempts To Deny The Essentiality of Immersion For Salvation

Attempts To Deny The Essentiality of Immersion For Salvation

The denominational world has made many “valiant” attempts to deny the essentiality of immersion for salvation. All such attempts have been thoroughly refuted, and buried in the cold graves of sectarian error. Nevertheless many “last breath” attempts continue to be resurrected like skeletons that have no flesh! Notice the following examples.

1 Peter 3:21 plainly says, “immersion does also now save us.” But a clever twist is placed on the text. It is said by some, “Immersion does save in the sense that it symbolizes salvation.

So, denominational “scholars” and commentators say something that the Holy Spirit through Peter does not say!

The comparison is between the waters of the flood “through which” Noah and his family were delivered. The waters of the flood symbolized the waters of immersion through which God saves penitent sinners.

Acts 2:38 plainly says, “Change your minds and be immersed every one of you.. .into the forgiveness of your sins … ” Denominational preachers say they were already forgiven, so immersion is not necessary for the forgiveness of sins. But, they are joined by the conjunction “and” showing they are both equally essential for forgiveness! If they were saved before immersion, they were also saved before they repented, but that is an impossibility! (Acts 10:48; 11:18)

The word of God will stand when all the denominational hammers that pound away at divine truth, are found battered and crushed, lying beside the mighty anvil of truth! (Jeremiah 23:29; Hebrews 4:12)

Scripture cannot be “broken.” It suffers no loss of integrity, and will not be nullified! It stands strong and secure forever! People should learn to put aside their human traditions and theories and accept whatever the word teaches on any subject, even the essentiality of immersion for the forgivness of sins.
